console output does not appear in code wars

codewars
codewars print to console c#
codewars username
codewars sign up not working
codewars github login
c# version of console log
codewars ruby
qualified io console log

I'm doing some javascript exercises on code wars. I want to see what's going wrong in my programs by printing to the console, but nothing except the test results appears in the output window. Does anyone know how to print to the console in code wars? I can't find anything in their documentation.

function areYouPlayingBanjo(name) {
  // Implement me
  var person = name.split('');
  person[0].toLowerCase();
  console.log(person[0]);
  if(person[0] === 'r'){
    return name + " plays banjo";
  }
  else{
    return name + " does not play banjo";
  }
}

see this issue: http://www.codewars.com/users/Elistan/comments https://codewars.com/users/isbadawi/replies

from coding point of view first store the lower case value then compare:you need to do something like this:

function areYouPlayingBanjo(name) {
      // Implement me
      var person = name.split('');
      console.log(person);
     var x= person[0].toLowerCase();
      console.log(person[0],x);// see difference here
      if(x === 'r'){// if you will use person[0] it will not match from given input because it will be R
        return name + " plays banjo";
      }
      else{
        return name + " does not play banjo";
      }
    }

var out = areYouPlayingBanjo('Rikke, rikke and Martin');
    console.log(out);

purefan, Agreed. This is rather confusing. Running "console.log(BlackKnight);" within the Codewars console and Test console doesn't return anything for me. You can use output commands in your code like "print()" in Python, or "fmt.Printf()" in Go or your language to see the inputs. I have used this method on a few of the "Attempt" buttons when I encounter a test that is failing that you do not see any details for other than what was expected vs what you generated as output.

This is not exactly an answer to the question, but more of an extended answer in order to document a chrome extension that can allow debugging in the console for codewars.

Install this chrome extension: https://github.com/bojan88/Codewars-JavaScript-debugger

This allows you to use the debugger; statement to force the your code to run in the browser rather than the sandboxed environment on the codewars servers. Works great.

Caveat: I don't know if this is safe. Use at your own risk.

Kata Stats: "console.log" and the Lexical "this", It's not like the value returned by console.log (if there was one) is stored in any variable (e.g. in their exercise they don't ask you to do somethingĀ  Noerde and drakt0r are correct, the function needs a 'return' statement so something comes back from the function, unless you're using ES6 syntax. Without the 'return', the function will return 'undefined'. The console.log simply prints to the terminal. level 1

Link about this question : https://www.codewars.com/kata/are-you-playing-banjo/train/javascript

const areYouPlayingBanjo = n => (n[0] == 'R' || n[0] == 'r') ? `${n} plays banjo` : `${n} does not play banjo`

console.log(areYouPlayingBanjo("Martin"), "Martin does not play banjo");
console.log(areYouPlayingBanjo("Rikke"), "Rikke plays banjo");

Skipped Katas?, Why can't I as someone with 8kyu look at the solution to a 6kyu problem? God I dont know who changed the error output window size but I cant see nothing I am not satisfied with the Console Application that is used to write the answers in. A console uses its output code page to translate the character values written by the various output functions into the images displayed in the console window. Syntax BOOL WINAPI SetConsoleOutputCP( _In_ UINT wCodePageID ); Parameters. wCodePageID [in] The identifier of the code page to set. For more information, see Remarks.

Cheat Detection, However some "cheat" solutions are not creative and offer no value to the community. Using console.log () in my solution (or var_dump, etc). Is If I forget a method [ie reverse()] to manipulate a list, and I look up that method to solve a kata. As a Programmer, you'll probably find yourself having to learn a number of programming languages whether it be for work or just for fun. In this blog, I will share what I personally think is the best way to learn a new language provided you're fairly proficient in one of the same paradigm.

Codewars/codewars.com/kata-solving-help, oh, do you know you can log output to the console for debugging purposes? Johnny it's quite hard to debug in codewars but don't give up! Codewars is where developers achieve code mastery through challenge. Train on kata in the dojo and reach your highest potential.

Code Challenge Solver: Debugging Tips, Most compilation & runtime errors should show up automatically in the results While Qualified doesn't support interactive debugging, you can write to stdoutĀ  Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. try pressing the ~ key and typing "givecredits 10000" without quotes and press enter. If you have 10,000 more creds, it's working.
