java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java.awt.Container

I am trying to install Visual Paradigm for UML. During the installation it crashes. This is the stack trace:

It appears that the installer can't find a class in the WT library. I can't see how how that can be possible. Does anyone know what is causing this, and how I may fix it?

[System Information]

java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.5) (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

I was getting the same problem when trying to install Visual Paradigm on Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit.

Java version:

java version "1.7.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_11-b21)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.6-b04, mixed mode)

This seemed to fix the problem:

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Bitbucket Server installer fails to run with java.lang , atlassian-bitbucket-x.x.x-x64.bin Starting Installer tarting Installer java.lang. NoClassDefFoundError: java.awt.Container at Missing 32 bit libraries are causing the problem I think. This helped in my case: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386 libxtst6:i386 sudo apt-get install libxtst6:i386 sudo apt-get install libx11-dev:i386 sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 sudo apt-get install libxi6 libxtst6 libxrender1

On ubuntu 14.04 the answer given by Hayden didn't work for me as the package doesn't exist.

This did work though:

apt-get install libxtst6:i386

i.e. it needs the 32 bit version of libxtst
