I am trying to count the number of elements in column 'xyz' which are smaller than x but larger than y.

a= df['xyz']
df[1/3 < a < 2/3].count()

However, this gives me:

ValueError: The truth value of a Series is ambiguous. Use a.empty, a.bool(), a.item(), a.any() or a.all().

a= df['xyz']
df[(a < 2/3) & (a > 1/3)].count()

Count numbers greater than or less than a number, There is a range of data in a worksheet as shown below, and now you want to count or sum the cells which are greater than a certain number but also less than  Count cells greater than To count the number of cells that have values greater than a particular number, you can use the COUNTIF function. In the generic form of the formula, rng represents a range of cells that contain numbers, and X represents the threshold above which

Subsetting your dataframe is not necessary. Just sum a Boolean series:

res = df['xyz'].between(1/3, 2/3, inclusive=False).sum()

Chained comparisons such as x < a < y work with regular Python scalars, not with Pandas objects, which require vectorised operations.

How to count/sum the cells greater than but less than a number?, Given an array Arr of positive intergers and a value X. The task is to find the number of values that is greater than or equal to X. But the twist is that the values of  Given an sorted array of size n. Find number of elements which are less than or equal to given element. Examples: Input : arr[] = {1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10} key = 9 Output : 5 Elements less than or equal to 9 are 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 therefore result will be 5.

this will give you the df where it's true:

mask = (df['xyz'] > min) & (df['xyz'] <= max)
df = df[mask]

len(df) or df.count() or df.shape[0]

Count the values greater than X in the modified array, Excel COUNTIF formula to count cells greater than another cell's value. numbers within a specific range, i.e. less than X but greater than Y. Count elements smaller than or equal to x in a sorted matrix Given a n x n strictly sorted matrix and a value x . The problem is to count the elements smaller than or equal to x in the given matrix.

Excel COUNTIF examples, Learn more about count, array, for loop, if satement, sum Image Processing Toolbox. i want to the ways to count the number of formfactor in this code is greater than x(i)=S(i).Area;. y(i)=S(i).Perimeter;. %Form factor=4* pi * area/ (perimeter* But the result from this is wrong and i don't know this in for loop or i put it put ? Count smaller elements on right side Write a function to count number of smaller elements on right of each element in an array. Given an unsorted array arr[] of distinct integers, construct another array countSmaller[] such that countSmaller[i] contains count of smaller elements on right side of each element arr[i] in array.

how to count number of elements greater than ?, I want to count no. of values greater than 30 for x axis between 1 and 60 and then between Yeah, but those rely on logical tests and are difficult to generalize; either of the solutions I handle whatever number of element groups there and the length of the y vector. NB: The subs vector must be column vector, note the . Use the COUNTIF function to count numbers greater than or less than a number. A11 and A12 has formulas where COUNTIF checks for the number of invoices less than 20000 and greater than or equal to 20,000 in the B2:B7 range. COUNTIF finds 4 values less than 20000 and 2 values greater than and equal to 20000.

count number of values greater than threshold., This is a basic R question, but still: # accessing the p.values, should work like this, but you will fiddle that out yourself: # p.value  I have a column with "Total Hours" in whole number data type. I'm trying to create a conditional column from the following plain english statement: If Total Hours is greater than or equal to 4 but less than 12 flag as true, otherwise flag as false. I can't seem to get this to work in the add conditional column.

  • np.sum((df['xyz'] > y) & (df['xyz'] < x)).
  • I don't think there's enough info here to give a definitive answer
  • is df a pandas data frame or a list? can't distinguish
  • Thank you! df is a data frame
