I have links inside of that work fine in Chrome, but not IE or Firefox. Nothing happens if you click on them. I've messed with the CSS (z-index included), but am out of ideas. This is XHTML coming out of Drupal.
The html looks like this:
<div class="product-display-block-link"> <button> <a href="/checkout/outfield-banner/1">Add to cart</a> </button> </div>
Any suggestions for where I can look?
The HMTL syntax does not allow an
a element within a
button element, so it is not surprising that it does not work across browsers. There should be no reason to use such a construct, since you can either style a link to look like a button or associate an action with a button, depending on what you wish to accomplish.
A Complete Guide to Links and Buttons, Our complete guide to links, buttons, and button-like inputs in HTML, doesn't allow opening in a new tab, doesn't work with Windows High Now that we’ve removed default styles, let’s define our own button styles. This is what we’d like to do: a “button” style that can be applied to both links or buttons; we want to apply it selectively, because we’ll have other link and button styles in our pages. This calls for a CSS component.
You can't mix the two because
<button> elements aren't allowed to contain
<a> elements. The definition of the element explicitly excludes them:
<!-- Content is %Flow; excluding a, form and form controls --> <!ELEMENT button %button.content;> <!-- push button --> <!ENTITY % button.content "(#PCDATA | p | %heading; | div | %lists; | %blocktext; | table | %special; | %fontstyle; | %phrase; | %misc;)*">
Adding Href to Button, When i put the link outside the video code it seems to work fine. I'm new to Boostrap the "Welcome banner doesn't seem to be responsive Buttons are expected to be triggered using the Space key, while links are expected to be triggered through the Enter key. Button link won't work, Yes I put a link in the button. I checked it twice. And it doesn't work. I had no choice for my last buttons to simply change the text and url to an existing button like Buttons in their simplest form contain uppercase text, a slight elevation, hover effect, and a ripple effect on click. I had a similar situation and posted my question here => Why does Dreamweaver cc16, Bootstrap v3.3.6, created, hyperlinked Button work in Opera & Chrome but not IE or Firefox?
Here is my original code for a Button =>
The Button html code is: =>
<div align="center" style="font-size: 1.5em">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-lg">
<a href="https://howtoliveoffthegridnow.com/wordpress/get-your-own-off-the-grid-checklist/" title="Access option to download checklist"><strong>FREE: 11 Things To Know Before Going Off The Grid</strong></a>
and the relevant bootstrap.css v3.3.6 is linked conventionally using: =>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="assets/css/bootstrap.css" />
That worked in Chrome and Opera but not IE or Firefox though, apparently, it should not have worked in any browser.
Here is what I changed that Button code element into =>
`<div class="btn btn-lg" style="background-color:#ffffff;"> <a href="https://howtoliveoffthegridnow.com/wordpress/get-your-own-off-the-grid-checklist/" title="Access option to download checklist"><strong>FREE: 11 Things To Know Before Going Off The Grid</strong></a>
That works across all browser. /psb
My new buttons link don't work!, discoverd my <button></buttom> does not work as a link I am using <button the suggested “button-like styled link” solution by ForceFlow: that doesn't need The <button> tag defines a clickable button. Inside a <button> element you can put content, like text or images. This is the difference between this element and buttons created with the <input> element. Tip: Always specify the type attribute for a <button> element, because browsers may use different default types for the <button> element.
Also, type attribute is missing. Different browsers assume different type, for example, not necessarily type="submit".

Button link not working, ⚡️Links that don't go anywhere should be buttons Yet, links keep getting used for functionality that doesn't go anywhere on the web or in the I'm trying to put a link to another page of my website inside this button I've made using CSS. However, the button already has formatted text in it and the link apparently only works when I use text inside the <a></a> tags. Any ideas how I can just make the entire button a clickable link? Here's the offending code:
Links that don't go anywhere should be buttons, The Link component allows you to easily customize anchor elements with your If a link doesn't have a meaningful href, it should be rendered using a <button> To achieve the button styles above, Bootstrap has the following classes: The button classes can be used on an <a>, <button>, or <input> element: Why do we put a # in the href attribute of the link? Since we do not have any page to link it to, and we do not want to get a "404" message, we put # as the link in our examples.
